This is the original photo that was the basis for the two accompanying variations, entitled Angel Wing #2 and #3, a macro of one segment of an unfolding Angel's Trumpet flower (Brugmansia suaveolens). These remarkable pink blooms are typically 9 to 12 inches from base to tip, and are so heavy they hang straight down. Their size and pendulous habit create difficulties for photography, but make for some great abstract subject matter for the photographerwho is willing to adopt interesting photographic positions. This was photographed while lying on my back in my yard, shooting nearly straight up. After processing the original, I decided to try some artistic variations and have posted some here. I have chosen to rotate the original 90 degrees clockwise, to emphasize the structure and line of the unfolded petal, but optionally, it could be rotated back to upright portait format.

Gary Holmes, photographer: I have always loved to photograph nature, landscapes, abstract, and other found objects of interest. I prefer the challenge of trying to capture the unpredictable spontaneity of things and events as they are occurring. I started with a Kodak Brownie as a child, but entered the world of real photography with a Canon AE-1 in the late 1970's. I have successfully sold a number of my photographs on Fine Art America, and have been recognized in international photography venues. Poster sized prints of three of my photographs were recently installed in a new medical clinic building in a major Texas medical center.
