Artist's Description
2:1 aspect panorama. Although once fairly common in rural Texas, one rarely encounters a cattle drive on a public road. This large herd of cattle was being moved from one pasture to another along the only dry land in the area. The surrounding pasture land was saturated and marshy from recent rains, as can be seen by the mud caking their legs to above the knees. Of note, the white pickup truck directly ahead was racing past me at a high speed just a minute before I came upon the herd. Clearly, this was not in his plans, but I quite enjoyed the whole surreal experience of floating through a sea of cattle, with only a slight concern for the safety of my car.

Gary Holmes, photographer: I have always loved to photograph nature, landscapes, abstract, and other found objects of interest. I prefer the challenge of trying to capture the unpredictable spontaneity of things and events as they are occurring. I started with a Kodak Brownie as a child, but entered the world of real photography with a Canon AE-1 in the late 1970's. I have successfully sold a number of my photographs on Fine Art America, and have been recognized in international photography venues. Poster sized prints of three of my photographs were recently installed in a new medical clinic building in a major Texas medical center.
