Artist's Description
This is a slightly enhanced capture of the "Bluebonnet Belle," a restored 1944 Douglas C47B Skytrain, as it took off at the Central Texas Air Show, Temple, Texas, in 2009. During World War II, the US and other allied countries used the C-47 and similar modified DC-3 aircraft to transport troops, cargo, and wounded soldiers to and from the battle fronts.

Gary Holmes, photographer: I am an opportunist photographer of nature, landscapes, abstract, and other found objects of interest. I prefer to capture the spontaneity of things and events as they are occurring, and rarely photograph staged subjects other than portraits. Although I have been a photographer for decades, I have only been posting them for others to see since about September 2012.

Gary Holmes, photographer: I have always loved to photograph nature, landscapes, abstract, and other found objects of interest. I prefer the challenge of trying to capture the unpredictable spontaneity of things and events as they are occurring. I started with a Kodak Brownie as a child, but entered the world of real photography with a Canon AE-1 in the late 1970's. I have successfully sold a number of my photographs on Fine Art America, and have been recognized in international photography venues. Poster sized prints of three of my photographs were recently installed in a new medical clinic building in a major Texas medical center.
