Thank you for your thoughtful and supportive comments. This quarry lake is usually a home for many egrets and herons, but I have never before seen them congregated so closely in such numbers at one time.

I love this photo. Wonderful. The reflection, in many places, is indistinguishable from actual. The number of herons is remarkable to me, as I usually see one at a time, two at most. And the overall composition, foreground and background, is "hot" -- as opposed to many photos that have one hot spot. Something's happening everywhere throughout this photo. It's like a musical score, or a storyline or a timeline. v/f
