A resident mallard plies the colorful reflections of a Mexican restaurant on the San Antonio River, viewed from the historic Riverwalk in downtown San Antonio, Texas. The captured reflections are reminiscent of a brightly colored Mexican serape. San Antonio is one of my favorite cities in Texas. Its unique, meandering Riverwalk, lined with museums, theatres, restaurants, clubs, hotels, and stores, is one of the must-see destinations for visitors and locals alike. The title is a play on lyrics from the classic song, "Rose of San Antone."
Gary Holmes, photographer: I have always loved to photograph nature, landscapes, abstract, and other found objects of interest. I prefer the challenge of trying to capture the unpredictable spontaneity of things and events as they are occurring. I started with a Kodak Brownie as a child, but entered the world of real photography with a Canon AE-1 in the late 1970's. I have successfully sold a number of my photographs on Fine Art America, and have been recognized in international photography venues. Poster sized prints of three of my photographs were recently installed in a new medical clinic building in a major Texas medical center.
