Description
A Pine Warbler (Dendroica pinus) searches dead leaves for small insects on tree branch in a marsh on Lake Conroe, in east Texas. These small, very active birds live almost exclusively in pine forests, such as those covering much of eastern Texas. They eat mostly seeds, along with small insects. They migrate north early in the spring from their wintering grounds in the southern gulf coastal states and Mexico, ranging throughout the eastern US and Great Lakes areas before migrating south late in the fall seasons.
