Description
Original. Although once fairly common in rural Texas, one rarely encounters a cattle drive on a public road. This large herd of cattle was being moved from one pasture to another along the only dry land in the area. The surrounding pasture land was saturated and marshy from recent rains, as can be seen by the mud caking their legs to above the knees. Of note, the white pickup truck directly ahead was racing past me at a high speed just a minute before I came upon the herd. Clearly, this was not in his plans, but I quite enjoyed the whole surreal experience of floating through a sea of cattle, with only a slight concern for the safety of my car.

This photo is very interesting certainly kept my eye captured. We, in Australia, come across this kind of thing still, we call cows grazing on the road sides ' droving on the long paddock'
Gary Holmes replied:
Carole, thanks again for the comments, and for the down under perspective. I will have to add "droving on the long paddock" to my lexicon, it's a great Strine phrase.
