Description
This fuzzy Virginia Sphinx Moth (Darapsa myron) has graced our front porch the past several nights. It was remarkably tolerant of the camera flash at nearly point blank range. Its compound eye reminds me of the children with sad oversized eyes popularized in the paintings of Margaret Keane in the 1960's.

Gary Holmes, photographer: I am an opportunist photographer of nature, landscapes, abstract, and other found objects of interest. I prefer to capture the spontaneity of things and events as they are occurring, and rarely photograph staged subjects other than portraits. Although I have been a photographer for decades, I have only been posting them for others to see since about September 2012. I have successfully sold several of my photos on Fine Art America, and have had one photograph ("Blue Norther") selected by the Texas Bluebird Society for its 2013 annual renewal campaign.
