Description
The Thomas Murphy barn, circa 1920, still stands along with the farmhouse on the northernmost end of Mormon Row in Grand Teton National Park, Wyoming. Its weathered, rugged beauty complements that of the cloud-shrouded Teton range that stands behind it. Mormon Row is maintained by the National Park Service to commemorate the struggles and determination of the hardy Mormon settlers that first tamed this pastureland. Most of the structures had fallen into disrepair, but some of the famly descendents have been seeking donations to at least partially restore many of the buildings .

Gary Holmes, photographer: I have always loved to photograph nature, landscapes, abstract, and other found objects of interest. Although I have staged single and group portraits and still life photographs, I prefer the challenge of trying to capture the unpredictable spontaneity of things and events as they are occurring. I started with a Kodak Brownie as a child, but entered the world of real photography with a Canon AE-1 in the late 1970's. I have continued to develop my compositional and post-processing skills and have slowly acquired higher quality equipment that is now capable of putting those skills to their best use. I finally became confident enough to begin posting my work online in September 2012, and have successfully sold a number of my photographs on Fine Art America.
