Description
The Mormon Temple stands in the center of Temple Square in downtown Salt Lake City, Utah, on an overcast Spring day in 2002. Non-members like me may not enter the Temple, but the serene, perfectly maintained beauty of the building and its surrounding grounds are well worth a visit. Immediately behind the Temple, but out of the view to the right, is the more famous Mormon Tabernacle, which is open to the public. From the official website: "This magnificent granite structure was constructed over a period of 40 years, from the laying of the cornerstones on 6 April 1853 to the dedication on 6 April 1893. The temple is considered the house of the Lord and is sacred to members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints."

Gary Holmes, photographer: I am an opportunist photographer of nature, landscapes, abstract, and other found objects of interest. I prefer to capture the spontaneity of things and events as they are occurring, and rarely photograph staged subjects other than portraits. Although I have been a photographer for decades, I continue to study and learn the craft. Long ago, I embraced the hugely expanded opportunities offered by digital photography, but I have only been posting them online since September 2012. As a result, I have now successfully sold several of my works. I will continue to post my very best works on FAA and other sites every day or two, as time permits. Please revisit my sites periodically. I welcome your votes, support and gently constructive criticism or suggestions, all of which help guide me in my photographic odyssey. Nothing makes me happier as a photographer than knowing someone likes one of my works so much that they purchased one.
