Euryops pectinatus (golden daisy bush) is a South African shrub bearing bright yellow flower heads and attractive, narrowly divided leaves. In South Africa where it is found in the south-western Cape from Gifberg to the South Peninsula. It has a characteristic distribution in the fynbos (shrubland or heathland vegetation in coastal and mountainous areas, having winter rainfall and a Mediterranean climate). It is a commonly grown ornamental flowering shrub in warm, dry climates, where it thrives in full sunlight. This particular one will be gracing our backyard when I have time to plant it.

Gary Holmes, photographer: I have always loved to photograph nature, landscapes, abstract, and other found objects of interest. I prefer the challenge of trying to capture the unpredictable spontaneity of things and events as they are occurring. I started with a Kodak Brownie as a child, but entered the world of real photography with a Canon AE-1 in the late 1970's. I have successfully sold a number of my photographs on Fine Art America, and have been recognized in international photography venues.
