Description
A Common Raven (Corvus corax) poses on a charred log, Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado. I like the contrast between the smooth, iridescent feathers and the scale-like textures of the burnt log. Common ravens prefer high elevations,forest, desert,and tundra. Unlike many others in the crow family, they tend not to stay in large groups. They are very curious, and have adapted well to living around humans. They are known for stealing shiny objects such as coins, cans, and bits of glass to decorate their nests.
